Keonna Palmer, a 2014 Southern Wesleyan University graduate from Ashevile, N.C., addresses new students, their families and friends during a “Passing the Mantle” service Aug. 19 at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center auditorium.

Southern Wesleyan University welcomed its newest Warriors to Central Aug. 18. Many new students moved into the university’s newest residence hall, located on Wesleyan Drive, across from Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center. Student volunteers and a team of volunteers from Trinity Wesleyan Church assisted freshman and transfer students as they moved their belongings into campus housing.

Highlights of Orientation included “Freshmen Connect,” an opportunity for new students to learn about businesses, local ministries and other services in the area; a “Passing the Mantle” service with 2014 SWU alumna Keonna Palmer as the speaker; and both fun and informational activities throughout the weekend.

Southern Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ. For details about degree programs, go online to swu.edu.
