Southern Wesleyan University held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open a new media communication center and production suite Sept. 25.

The center is dedicated to the memory of Stacia Cressa Sheets, who passed away with leukemia in 1990. Pictured, from left, are Paul Creasman, associate professor of communication at Southern Wesleyan University; Aletha Sheets and Rev. James Sheets, Stacia’s grandparents; Sally Sheets and Rev. Paul Sheets, Stacia’s parents; Sherilyn Sheets, Stacia’s sister; and Elaine Rich and husband Ivor Rich, representing the Howard L. Green Foundation.

The center, funded by $75,000 in donations from the Green Foundation and members of the Sheets family, provides Southern Wesleyan University communication students with two state-of-the-art editing studios and equipment that includes three Apple computers, three Apple media production software packages, two new high-definition video cameras and lighting. The center is located in the Faith Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on Southern Wesleyan’s campus in Central.
