The annual Southern Wesleyan University P.B. Wood Golf Tournament tees off every 1st Monday in October. Continental breakfast and check-in begins at 8am with a shotgun start at 9am at Smithfield Country Club, with John Ross Insurance Agency serving as the Event Sponsor.

The tournament raises funds for the SWU Promise Fund, which supports student scholarships and areas of greatest need for the University. This event is named in memory of Dr. Paul Baker Wood, a noted psychologist and Southern Wesleyan University professor emeritus. Longtime WYFF 4’s Dale Gilbert will also be participating and will be the emcee for the awards program.
