Southern Wesleyan University strives to expand our students’ horizons outward to understand the history and value of other peoples and cultures, preparing them for involvement in a complex and changing global community. Global Engagement offers opportunities that will challenge students to gain an increased cultural awareness and effectively serve Christ and His Kingdom in a global society, whether that's meeting real needs in our local community, or touching lives around the world. What happens when you engage the world?

Nations will hear of the Good News of Jesus
As followers of Jesus Christ we are called to be on mission with Him. Jesus made it very clear in Matthew 28:19 that we are to “go and make disciples of all nations…” This is more than a fun, travel opportunity. It is a calling. It is an opportunity to grow. It is an act of worship. Our desire at SWU is to go to all nations, bringing the Good News of Jesus with us.

Injustice, poverty, and darkness will be fought against
As we bring the light of Christ to the world, we do so in the knowledge that the gospel is not just words but love in action. Micah reminds us that we are called to “act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.” (6:8) Our desire at SWU, beginning in our own local community and extending to the furthest parts of the world, is to combat the evils that surrounds us.

Lives will be transformed
As we engage with new friends, and new cultures, in new places, real life-change takes place. Within the lives of those who go from the SWU community, and within the lives of those we encounter from other communities, cultures, and people groups, the Holy Spirit is at work in powerful, transformative ways within our hearts. Our desire at SWU is to see life transformation take place, within our community and through it.
