Dr. Staci Johnson has taught Biology courses at SWU since 2005, and now teaches a range of courses including Introduction to Biology, Animal Science, Bioethics and Microbiology. While completing her M.S. in animal physiology and a Ph.D. at Clemson University, her research focused on endocrine control of reproductive cycles in beef cattle and on discipline-based education research to better understanding processes and pathways used by students when learning in the biology classroom. She is also the laboratory and safety officer and a member of the Faculty Development Committee. Dr. Johnson works to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and waste and ethical research practices across the university. Johnson grew up in East Tennessee on a beef cattle farm. She served as a State FFA Vice President and was later selected as an American Royal Student Ambassador. In addition to her work at SWU, Johnson is a wife and mom of three. Her family worships at Clemson Presbyterian Church. She enjoys exercise, making music, reading lots of books, attending sporting events and being at the beach.
