Awesome—you’ve decided on a major. The hard part is over, right? Almost, but not before you decide if you’d like to pursue a minor as well.
A minor is a concentrated subject area that can be added to your major. A minor requires fewer credit hours to complete, and while it can relate to your major and give you a deeper dive into your career field, it doesn’t have to. Your can minor in anything you want to learn more about.
To earn a minor, you must complete 18 to 24 semester hours of specified courses in the discipline. While this does require some extra work, it’s not as much as you might think. At SWU, you can fit courses for your minor into your required general elective credit hours. We only require at least six hours of courses to be included in your minor be taken under SWU faculty.
