Finding Faith, Friendship, and Purpose at SWU

From my very first visit to Southern Wesleyan University, I felt something different. Everyone on campus, from students, professors, and staff, welcomed me with genuine kindness. I also sensed that God was calling me here. The community’s deep commitment to their relationship with Jesus made me want to be part of it.

One of the things I love most about SWU is how Christ is woven into every aspect of learning. Whether it's statistics or chemistry, professors find ways to incorporate faith into the classroom. They’re not just educators; they’re mentors who care deeply about who I am beyond academics. These relationships have made it easier to ask for help when I feel confused or overwhelmed.

As I study science, I’m constantly reminded of God’s incredible creation. Even in math class, I see His handiwork. Being surrounded by people with strong faith has inspired me to grow in my own relationship with Christ.

I came to SWU to be part of the cross-country and track teams, even while recovering from hip surgery. Although I couldn’t run at first, my teammates treated me with the same kindness and support they would offer any other teammate. Their encouragement helped me feel like I truly belonged.

Coach Shelton, the Men’s and Women’s Head Track Coach, has had a profound impact on my journey. He supported me through recovery, made practices and travel fun, even when I couldn’t participate, and reminded me that God gives us countless reasons to be thankful, even in difficult seasons.

What I treasure most about SWU is the community. People genuinely care. They want to hear your story, walk alongside you in your faith journey, and share Christ’s love whether you already know Him or are just beginning to seek Him.

SWU has shown me that it’s possible to pursue rigorous academics while staying rooted in a Christ-centered education. No matter what career path we choose, we’re equipped to share the Gospel—not just in ministry, but in every field.

It’s an honor to be part of the SWU legacy. This is a place filled with people who strive to honor the Lord in all they do and share His love wherever they go. I hope to continue supporting this incredible community and its mission, even after I graduate.
