New Semester: What does Scripture say?

If you’re like me, the spring semester snuck up on you while you were contentedly enjoying your winter break. If you’re really like me or any student, you know how frightening a new semester can be. New classes, new students, new professors, oh my!
In the hustle and bustle of getting settled, we can become strangely comfortable in our anxiety—we just learn to accept it.
But God says something different. Here’s ten verses to help you as you start this new semester with the peace and comfort He provides.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Proverbs 3:25-26
Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes: for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Joshua 1:9
Be strong and of good courage: do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you: be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
Deuteronomy 31:8
And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.
2 Thessalonians 3:5
Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.
Psalm 34:19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
Finally, we look to one of the most famous verses that remind us we are taken care of. Do not fear or worry, because the Lord has revived our spirits.
Isaiah 40:28-31
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
If you’re feeling anxious about beginning a new semester—whether that worry is about studying, meeting professors’ expectations, or making new friends—know that the Lord will not let you faint. He will deliver you from affliction if you remain righteous and look to Him for deliverance.
If any of these verses spoke to your heart, write them on sticky notes. Place them on your laptop to read before you start homework. Place them on your mirror to read before you head to class.
Cling to the Lord and be comforted His Word!
