Behind Southern Wesleyan University's old bricks and historic facades is a high speed fiber-optic network connecting all academic buildings and residence halls, providing access to the Internet, Instant Messaging, and e-mail from each residence hall room and faculty office. Computer labs, which are open to students, expand the Southern Wesleyan University community to the world.

Faculty and Staff

Information Technology provides technical support to all academic and administrative PC users. This includes the campus network infrastructure and equipment, university-approved software, and telecommunication equipment and services. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to contact the help desk with hardware, network and university-approved software issues.

When placing a call users should be prepared to provide the SWU Blue ID number, located on each piece of the equipment, their name, telephone number, department and a detailed description of the problem. The help desk staff will generate a work order and assign a work order number. E-mail notification will be sent to the caller when possible. Users should reference the work order number when checking the status of the work order.


Information Technology supports the network connection from student computers in the resident halls to the campus network and assists students in the use of software and computers in the academic labs. We do not provide support for student-owned PC’s except in the setup and maintenance of the connection to the campus network. Problems related to cable TV should be referred to I.T.
