Lead Teams to Success

Learn to bring people together to meet organizational goals with our graduate-level Leadership Certificate program. In these for-credit courses, you’ll uncover and develop your personal leadership style and learn to use your influence more effectively. You’ll also explore real-world theories and strategies, like change management, which will ultimately prepare you to build and lead a team of professionals that are committed to your organization and who positively impact the bottom line.

Courses for Leadership Certificate

MGMT 5053 - Applied Organizational Behavior

In this course, you’ll learn how you can lead individuals and groups to achieve both personal and organizational goals. You’ll also gain a better understanding of manager-employee relationships, the psychology of management and techniques for modifying behavior to meet organizational objectives.

IBMT 5013 - Culture and Ethics in International Business

This course will prepare you for international business dealings by analyzing the many cultural nuances you may encounter, like customs, traditions, business etiquette and protocol and the attitudes and practices of major religions. The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) will also be examined. Emphasis will be placed on Christian ethics and key countries that have trade agreements with the United States.

MGMT 5273 - Strategic Leadership

This course explores the central role of a business leader in setting vision, formulating strategy and influencing employees, investors and customers. You’ll learn about the various leadership styles and how to use them, as well as how to employ principles of communication, motivation and organizational change.

MGMT 5383 - Organizational Change Management

This course will prepare you to oversee transitions in your organization and lead them to success. You’ll learn how to plan and implement change that aligns with your organization’s mission and goals, as well as how to effectively communicate change to employees and monitor the process.  

 

 

Earn College Credit for the Courses

Students enrolled in a microcredential program who successfully complete the certificate courses with grades of C or higher will receive a graduate certificate of recognition, and courses will be transcribed. Students who wish to apply for admission in the full MBA or MSML program must complete the application process and submit all transcripts from previously enrolled institutions. Additionally, graduate certificate students may request an academic transcript that will indicate completed coursework.

Eligibility

To be eligible to enroll in graduate-level certificate courses at SWU, students must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Certificate students are required to meet the same rigorous academic standards and outcomes as the degree-seeking students.

Certificate Program Fee

The cost for graduate certificate courses includes access to:

  • Course content and instruction
  • Online learning management system
  • Online SWU Library resources
  • SWU email account (while actively taking courses)
  • Microsoft Office 365 (while actively taking courses)

Payment

Payment will be required for one term (two courses) at a time. Course registration will not be complete until payment is made.

Credit/debit cards are the preferred form of payment. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted. Please call 864-644-5520 to make a payment over the phone.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

To withdraw, please contact your Academic Success Coach.

If submission of appropriate withdrawal paperwork is received prior to the course start date, the student is eligible for a full-tuition credit for that course.

If submission of appropriate withdrawal paperwork is received after the course start date but before the start of the second week, 90% of tuition (whether or not the student ever attended) will be credited.

Academic Resources and Support

Certificate and degree-seeking online students have access to equivalent academic resources and support.

Program Cancellation or Changes

Southern Wesleyan University reserves the right to make changes to the information printed in materials or on its website. Programs may be added or cancelled throughout the year. If a program is cancelled, Southern Wesleyan University will refund the program tuition in full.
