Makerspace and Multimedia Lab

Rickman Library Makerspace and Multimedia Lab

The Rickman Library Makerspace is a place where learning through inquiry and creativity occurs. It is equipped with a variety of technology and tools that help to enliven ingenuity and originality. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to create, problem solve, and develop talents and skills through practical application. The Makerspace is available for the development of innovative assignments for course submission as well as the invention of products for personal use. Workshops are scheduled each semester to demonstrate the use of the technology and tools available in the Makerspace.

The Rickman Library Multimedia Lab includes virtual reality gaming and a production studio. Two virtual reality (VR) lanes are available for gaming and world exploration for pleasure and the completion of course assignments. The production studio is equipped with audio/visual hardware and software for media creation. Audio, video, and editing capabilities are available to support the production of podcasts, vlogs, and so much more. Workshops and events are scheduled each semester to demonstrate the use of the technology and software available in the Multimedia Lab.
