Through the Honors Program at Southern Wesleyan I had the opportunity to conduct a self-directed research project with one-on-one guidance from a faculty member. I was able to publish a research article and gain experience with public speaking by presenting my research numerous times to professional audiences. I didn’t realize how much of a privilege it was to have that opportunity in undergrad until I got to medical school and found out that most of my classmates with that sort of research experience were only able to do so in a master’s or Ph.D. program.

I chose SWU because they are not only student focused, but Christ focused. It is not only a place where I learn the proper ways to teach children reading, writing, and arithmetic. It's also a place where I continue to learn to surrender my heart to Jesus, all the way. My favorite thing about SWU is the emphasis on prayer. The spiritual life aspect has taught me to be ALL IN for God, and for that I am thankful.

I have learned to bring my passions to the table here and in doing so, I have been met with unending guidance, support, prayer, and encouragement. SWU has truly given me a platform from which I can pursue God’s will for my life.

My experience at SWU has been nothing but great. God has opened so many doors and placed wonderful people in my life in ways that would have never happened if I had not been at SWU. I was able to grow spiritually by attending chapel services and incorporating our lord and savior in everything we do as a community. I was also able to grow as a musician because of the one on one attention professors give to make sure we understand all material.

Southern Wesleyan has been nothing short of a blessing for me. The small campus and intimate classroom feel made moving from home smooth and painless. SWU has allowed me to pursue all my wildest dreams. I got the opportunity to be part of the fantastic athletic department by playing soccer and I also have gotten to dive into the amazing music program by participating in the musicals and playing in our coffee shop. All of these activities have been amazing, but most importantly I have meet some amazing people who have helped me grow a much stronger relationship with God.

SWU has impacted me most by giving me a Christ-centered community that feels like home. The people I've lived life with and the memories we've made are priceless.
