To help our first-year students reach their academic and professional goals we have established a Boot Camp, a free pre-semester primer geared at helping our new students adapt to the demands of college. This non-credit bearing program is designed to enhance students’ success by reviewing essential skills in math and English. It is a two-week commitment immediately prior to the beginning of the fall semester and includes a week of online learning followed by a week of on-campus classes. Students who participate will move into their dorm room a week early and will experience fun, free evening activities in addition to the academic skill review.

Courses

Quantitative Reasoning:
Quantitative Reasoning is a critical skill that is necessary not only in many different disciplines but also in daily life, such as finding area and volume, calculating accrued interest, understanding negative numbers and reading graphs. The mathematical concepts covered in the course include arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics.

Algebra and Trigonometry:
The basic concepts and processes of algebra and trigonometry are needed for further study in mathematics and other disciplines such as biology, chemistry, and exercise science. The course includes functions, equations, inequalities, exponentials, logarithms, identities and circular functions.

English:
English bootcamp will prepare you to start classes by honing your writing skills and discovering new ways to make your writing clear and specific. We’ll have fun along the way developing your skills but also enjoying new friendships.
