Thursday, August 13

3 - 8 pm Welcome to SWU!
By Appt. Only: Cleared Students Move In - Residence Halls
You will receive an orientation ticket prior to arriving on campus to let you know whether you are “cleared” or “not-cleared” to move in to the residence halls. Cleared students will show your orientation ticket upon arrival and will be guided to move into your residence hall and meet other new students and families. You will receive your room keys at this time as well.


Friday, August 14

8 am – Noon Welcome to SWU!
By Appt. Only: Cleared Students Move In - Residence Halls
You will receive an orientation ticket prior to arriving on campus to let you know whether you are “cleared” or “not-cleared” to move in to the residence halls. Cleared students will show your orientation ticket upon arrival and will be guided to move into your residence hall and meet other new students and families. You will receive your final ID card and room keys.

Not Cleared Student Registration - Campus Life Center (CLC)
You will show your orientation ticket up on arrival and be guided to finish your registration process: meet with financial aid and student account representatives to discuss scholarships, loans, and payment plan options; complete final registration items; receive your final student ID card.

9 - 11 am Registration Meeting - First Floor Campus Life Center (CLC)
For students who have not registered
You will work with faculty advisors to register for classes or adjust your class schedule.

10 am - 12 pm Welcome to SWU! -First Floor Campus Life Center (CLC)
Commuter Check In
You will arrive to finalize the registration process or show your cleared ticket to be directed to lunch.

Noon - 2 pm Lunch - Dining Commons
Lunch is included for students with ID card and is $7.00 for guests or family members.

1:30 - 3 pm Welcome & Passing the Mantle (Group A) - Newton Hobson Auditorium
Leaders and students will help you learn what it means to be a part of the community life and culture of SWU. During this time we will also host our Passing the Mantle Ceremony, a special SWU tradition for families and new students that will focus on the transition into a new educational and spiritual journey as an independent young adult. Your new SWU community will be there to welcome you and pray for you.

3:15 - 3:45 pm Student Athletes & Parents Meeting - Newton Hobson Auditorium
Learn about communication protocol and team community expectations.

4 - 5:30 pm Welcome & Passing the Mantle (Group B) - Newton Hobson Auditorium
Leaders and students will help you learn what it means to be a part of the community life and culture of SWU. During this time we will also host our Passing the Mantle Ceremony, a special SWU tradition for families and new students that will focus on the transition into a new educational and spiritual journey as an independent young adult. Your new SWU community will be there to welcome you and pray for you.

5 - 6:50 pm Dinner - Dining Commons
Parents and students meet back up to go to dinner between 5:00-6:50. Dinner is included for students with ID cards and is $8.25 for guests or family members.

7 - 8:15 pm Student Breakout Sessions - Newton Hobson Auditorium
Meet your NSO leaders during this session and get to know new friends in your small group.

8:30 - 10 pm Student Warrior Welcome Party - Warrior Pit
Time to have some fun! Meet new friends and enjoy snacks and games together Get to know your New Student Orientation leaders (aka your new BFFs).


Saturday, August 15

8 - 9 am Breakfast - Dining Commons
Breakfast with your orientation group and NSO leader.

9:30 - 10 am Morning Welcome Session - Newton Hobson
After a brief time of worship together, you will be split into breakout sessions to learn the most vital information necessary to succeed in college.

10 am - Noon Surviving the College Social Scene - Newton Hobson Auditorium
An interactive experience where you will connect with others and have space to name your aspirations and hopes concretely. You will also build personal plans of action for the coming year for how you can translate learning into your day-to-day life.

1 - 1:15 pm Group Photo - Team SWU Lawn

1:15 - 2:45 pm My Professor Wants What? - Newton Hobson
Get the inside scoop about what a typical professor wants in the classroom and how you can succeed. This is also a time to get to know some faculty from your major as well as other new students who will be in your major.

2:45 - 4:30 pm Connection Time - Blue Hill
Wrap up the afternoon with a free drink at Blue Hill.

4:30 - 5 pm Safe in This Space - Commuter Lounge in CLC
Safe Space is a SWU effort supporting and promoting open and continuous dialogue that encourages intentional self-awareness. Safe Space is an effort where ANY person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to judgment, discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm as they learn and work through how to best navigate a world filled with diverse people. It is an effort that encourages questions and collaborative work to find answers. Assumptions and myths are invited, but only to be dispelled by truth and replaced with renewed perspectives.

5 - 8 pm SWUAU LUAU - Founders Hall & Warrior Pit
Dinner will be served in Founders Hall with games at the Warrior Pit. Join the party and meet new friends as we celebrate your new adventure in college life at SWU.


 Sunday, August 16

9:45 am – Noon Worship at Local Churches
Grab some friends and find a local place of worship together. Time to slow down for some rest and relaxation after a busy NSO weekend!
