Warrior Welcome Weekend Schedule

 

 

Friday, January 6th

9 am - 12 pm — Residence Hall Check-In — Various Residence Halls
Students must be cleared with the registration process prior to moving in to the residence hall. Residence Life Staff will be on hand in your residence halls to help you get checked in and oriented to your living area.

9 am - 12 pm — Registration & Finalize Enrollment — Rickman Library
Come and take care of any outstanding business needs. We will have a welcome table on the first floor of the Library to help guide you to any other offices in the Library you may need to take care of billing questions, Financial Aid, and computer login information.

Then you will move to the Campus Life Center to finalize your Student ID, housing or dining information, health forms or any other general question that you need to have answered as you begin your new journey here at SWU.

12 pm - 2 pm — Lunch & Passing the Mantle — Founders (Lower Level of the Dining Commons)
This is a highlight of Spring Welcome Weekend that you don’t want to miss! There will be a catered lunch where you can get something to eat with other parents and students who are new to our community as well as hear about some great resources on campus. This will be concluded with a special SWU tradition called Passing the Mantle which involves both parents and students. This will serve as the conclusion of the parent part of orientation.

2 pm - 3:30 pm — Preparing for Academic Success at SWU — Newby 116
Come get your log-in for all things “SWU.” In this workshop you will log into MySWU and go for a tour. You will also find out about how to check your SWU email, navigate Canvas (find out where your syllabi are located) and Papercut, and download the Chapel Attendance App.

Saturday, January 7th

1 pm - 2 pm — Tailgate Before the Basketball Games — Tysinger Gymnasium (meet outside by the Warrior head)
Come and meet up with returning students before the Women’s Basketball game. We will grill out with traditional tailgate food and games prior to the start of the game.

2 pm - 4 pm — Women’s Basketball Game — Tysinger Gymnasium

4 pm - 6 pm — Men's Basketball Game — Tysinger Gymnasium

5 pm - 6 pm — Dinner — Dining Commons

7 pm - 9 pm — Coffee House — Blue Hill
Come to hear some of our local talent and grab a great cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate and connect with some new friends.

Sunday, January 8th

9:30 am - 10:30 am — Breakfast, Continental Style — Dining Commons

10 am - Noon — Attend a Local Church — Various Locations
We encourage you to visit one of our many local churches to find a church home. If you’re not sure where to go talk with your RA to get some ideas.  

Noon - 1:30 pm — Sunday Brunch — Dining Commons

1 pm - 5 pm — Various Community Activities hosted by Residence Life — Joiner Hilson
There will be various activities hosted by Residence Life to get you out into the local community. This event is for all new students. Come to the lobby of Joiner Hilson to sign up for an excursion in the local community.

5 pm - 6 pm — Dinner — Dining Commons

6:30 pm - 9 pm — Student Activities Event — Joiner Hilson Lobby
Come and meet returning students as we gather for an event in Joiner Hilson residence hall.

Tuesday, January 10th

7 pm - 9 pm — Mandatory Residence Hall Meeting — Your Residence Hall Lobby
Residence Life staff will meet with you to help you get acclimated and to answer questions about your living area.  It is very important that ALL resident students attend this hall meeting.
